This first ever edition of “The Terrible Tale of the Scarlett Shaw” is dedicated to everyone who believed in me. It’s taken four years, but throughout it all, there were a special few who kept the faith. You know who you are.
As this is the first ever completed edition of this damned book, I wanted to preface this with a few words to all who may be reading it.
First of all, if you’re reading these words right now…
Thank You.
I have no idea what I’m doing, so having you wonderful people that have offered to give their time and attention to my ramblings, is an absolute godsend. I have stared at this novel for over four years and my eyes have become insanely critical, ruining my ability to critique my own work! Having test readers is invaluable and worth it’s wait in gold.
I cannot pay you, (I’m professionally homeless) but as well as my eternal thanks, I promise to write the names of any readers that can finish the book and provide a bit of feedback in the acknowledgments section when it goes for publishing. This way, there will be a piece of you that lives in print forever.
This all comes with a warning however…
I am not a professional. I have made mistakes. This whole process has nearly driven me crazy multiple times. Whilst I am desperately after honest critique, remember that this is something I’ve worked on for countless hours. It’s not going to be perfect. There may be some bits that are ugly as hell, but what I’m asking is…
Be honest, but gentle with me!
I am totally okay if this book is a dud and goes absolutely nowhere beyond you fine people, so don’t worry that you’re going to crush my dreams. (My next book is already in progress!) I’m after your thoughts for any of it. ANYTHING. Any spelling errors, grammar errors, shit pacing or even awful dialogue, make a note and let me know.
Finally, I completely understand that this book is not going to be everyone’s cup of tea. It’s a Historical/Fantasy/Cosmic Horror/Sci-Fi book for Christ sake! If you’re reading it and you cannot get through it, either because you don’t enjoy it or it’s too much work, PLEASE don’t feel bad for stopping. I’m already so grateful you’ve made it this far, so even if you only read a chapter or two, it’s good enough for me.
So without further ado, here is a link to a google drive containing the first finished versions of the novel. I was trying to get a super professional ebook setup, with cover pictures and fancy formatting, but my time is running short. (I’m off to canada in less than 24 hours!)
It’s available in PDF, EPUB, Google Doc and good ol’ microsoft word! Sorry they’re a bit rough to look at, please let me know how you get on!
Thank you so much.
